Readers' Blog: Appeal for toys and clothes
For the second year running, we at Food Not Bombs, a voluntary group, are collecting all sorts of toys and good clothes for the refugee families in Balseskin Direct Provision Centre, St Margarets, Co Dublin.
If some of your children have outgrown their toys, please sort some toys or clothing to donate to children who are finding it hard to settle in a direct provision centre in a strange country. Let’s make them welcome here.
No one leaves their home without good reason, last year some refugees cried when they saw our gifts as they had no money to buy any presents or toys for their children at Christmas.
We want to help them, any gifts donated will be wrapped and given to the centre around December 22. See our page with photos of last year’s collection. We also give to the homeless, so sleeping bags, heavy clothes and shoes are also needed for those on the streets.
