The media were on full alert. Boris Johnson, The Wizard of Brexit, was to address what was described as a fringe event at the annual Tory conference in Birmingham.

As it happens I was reading The Wizard of Oz to one of my grandchildren and we were at the stage where Dorothy and friends had reached the Emerald City and the Wizard had agreed to meet them.
