A test of character

IS it just an ironic coincidence that Rónán Mullen uses the accusation of ‘character assassination’ as part of his attack on Fr Brian D’Arcy (Irish Examiner, March 29)?

Or is it possible the term came into his head because, in the back of his mind, he knew that ‘character assassination’ was the best description for the article he himself was writing?
