Where Kenny stands

I ENTIRELY disagree with Deputy Seamus Healy (Irish Examiner, Sept 22) that Fine Gael has moved firmly to the right under Enda Kenny and that it has failed the working class.

Where Kenny stands

Fine Gael believes it is not the poor and weaker sections who have caused the financial mess we are in, and they should not be made to pay the price for Government incompetence.

Mr Kenny has championed best practice policies with regard to sustainable employment, creating a fair society and removing barriers to equal opportunity.

A parliamentary system works best in a stable environment with parties ranging from medium to large.

Independents largely promote only self-serving causes, as can be seen by the election of single issue candidates.

Any left-led alliance seeking to form a government in Ireland would wreck the economy in less than 18 months, having no coherent set of policies.

We never had such a government in Ireland simply because the people do not want it.
