Forget about national holiday for bigots
... Paul Kinsella confers a dubious respectability on the sectarian Orange Order (‘Orange day should be a national holiday,’ Irish Examiner letters, June 22).
Celebrating the bigotry of the Orange Order is not unlike the Ku Klux Klan being celebrated in Mississippi, or celebrating the neo-Nazis strutting their stuff in Jerusalem.
As a trade unionist of more than 45 years standing, I am appalled that those who purport to represent the weak and marginalised in society would even consider a motion of such odious character. Not in my name.
