The answer is regime change in Washington
Having rid themselves of one dictator, the Iraqi people now appear to be suffering at the hands of their so-called liberators.
The soldiers responsible for inflicting this violence should be ashamed of their actions and should be held accountable for them.
At the same time it is important to look beyond the battlefield to understand the source of this arrogance and disrespect for international law.
The Bush administration has succeeded in making the world a much more dangerous place, replacing diplomacy with dictatorship, co-operation with conflict and reconciliation with rancour.
We can only hope that US citizens will also choose regime change when the presidential election comes round in November.
