A great woman robbed by the State

THE Government’s pre-election manifesto declared that “one of our core objectives will be to help all older people to live in the dignity which their immense contribution to the development of our country deserves”.

That manifesto bears the joint signatures of Bertie Ahern and Mary Harney.

Recently I attended the funeral of an elderly woman who had worked long and hard to run the family farm and to raise her children. This great woman had made an enormous contribution to home and country.
