Unhappy visitor should be sent to Coventry

I REFER to the insulting letter headlined ‘Profiteers and puritans ruining the Republic’ from Chris Clegg of Lancashire (Irish Examiner, August 7).

Unhappy visitor should be sent to Coventry

Mr Clegg says he will be boycotting us for the foreseeable future because he could not smoke in our hostelries, his B&B was overpriced, and that he was ripped off. Mr Clegg, please make it a permanent boycott.

Recently I was in England en route to the continent. I stayed in a hotel in Coventry. It was expensive, the food was cold and poor, and the staff were unfriendly.

There was a queue of people waiting to complain, but the receptionist just walked off. They have not replied to my email. But it was all more than made up for by the hospitality of the French and Germans.

Mr Clegg must realise we are Europeans and that the euro is our currency. It is the British who have the funny money now.
