Pointless picture

I WAS disgusted at the way you paraded the picture of a dead child in Beslan on your front page (Irish Examiner, Sept 6).

Pictures like this should not be published. Not on the front page, or in any part of any newspaper. And not because they are shocking, but because they violate a human being’s dignity.

That child is no less dead because the whole world has seen his picture. Is this what you have to do to sell the news? Isn’t the horror of what happened enough to make us think that in a world where children are being killed with no remorse, something must really have gone wrong?
