Pope and PDs: a study in contrast

WHILE watching the news on RTÉ last Friday night I was struck by the number of ordinary people - young, middle-aged and old - who attended the Pope’s funeral.

I was also impressed by the humility, simplicity and sincerity of John Paul II.

The next news item was about the over-fed, overdressed delegates posing for the cameras at the start of the PDs’ conference in Cork.
