Fringe jazz festival will aid New Orleans

YOUR correspondent Brendan O’Connell’s suggestion of support for the misfortunate people of New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina will not go unheeded (Irish Examiner letters, September 13).

As organisers of the Kinsale Fringe Jazz Festival, we can tell you that plans are already afoot to collect from all visitors to Kinsale during this year’s festival. All the bars on the free jazz trail will lend their support, as will those bars in the jazz-free zone.

The fate of New Orleans will, no doubt, add a poignancy to this year’s festival that we’re sure will touch jazz fans and visitors from all over the world.
