Where to look for the face of the Saviour

MR Davis and Mr Oakfield (Irish Examiner letters, March 2) express outrage at the idea that the spirit of Christ might be found in Iraq.

Where to look for the face of the Saviour

Christ, nevertheless, is there. He resides in the multitudes of poor people who wait in terror for the missiles of the mighty to destroy their homes, families and lives.

Jesus Himself made this clear with the blunt warning that "whatever you do to these, the least of my little ones, you do also to me."

But our Israeli friends need not go quite as far as Iraq to find Christ. The next time they behold an old Palestinian woman rendered landless, homeless and hopeless by the latest "incursion" of Israeli tanks and bulldozers let them regard her closely. If they do, they will see in her, too, the face of Christ.
