Enough is enough

ROY MANNIX (Irish Examiner letters, Dec 11) proposes coastal reclamation in the Little Island area. I think we have enough rubbish here already.

We certainly do not want a rubbish dump, as we have too many factories, as well as the water treatment plant, in our area. We in Little Island would have liked a shopping centre, or even a supermarket, but the ‘superpowers’ in Douglas, Mahon and Midleton put a stop to that. With the population in the Little Island, Glounthaune and Carrigtwohill areas growing yearly, what do we get? More factories and no amenities. Forget about a rubbish dump. We have enough of this type of thing in our once green and lovely Island.
