Provos know we want ballots, not bullets
If General de Chastelain saw medium ordnance and explosive material being destroyed, then that was what he saw. Medium ordnance means offensive weapons, explosive material means bombs. How much plainer can the man get? If you think he is a liar, then say it. If you think he is telling the truth, then accept his word.
The fact is that, for the first time, the Provisional IRA has accepted that democracy is the only instrument of change allowed in a modern, civilised and fair society.
In doing so they have finally joined the true republican family on this island, and not before time. This is the key point in all this. It is time for real politics to begin. Get on with it.
