I AM writing in defence of 65-year-old ladies. I was annoyed by the news brief on the mountain rescue of an “elderly” woman of that age (Irish Examiner, September 22).

I am also in my 65th year and consider myself anything but “elderly”.

I am involved in running the family business, I have just received my certificate for my ECDL and, like many more ladies aged 65 and over, I have many interests.
