Time restriction drives teens to binge-drink

I AM writing in regard to the new law that restricts persons under the age of 18 from entering licensed premises after 9pm. I am opposed to minors drinking alcohol and am fully aware of the accidents and damage it can cause but I feel this law only makes matters worse.

Time restriction drives teens to binge-drink

I am from a small village in West Cork and find it virtually impossible to do anything at weekends. The nearest cinema is 20 miles away and the nearest shopping centres are at least 50 miles away. The bus services are non-existent after 6pm.

In my town, we have at least seven pubs and after 9pm I am not allowed into these places. I understand this in larger towns where they have sufficient amenities and are well equipped for teenagers.
