Ear-splitting experience on the mainline train

I TOTALLY sympathise with Anita O’Driscoll who was disgusted with the state of the toilets at Kent Station in Cork (Irish Examiner letters, March 9).

On a separate issue also related to Iarnród Eireann I recently took the train from Dublin to Cork. It stopped at the usual stations.

At each stop the driver switched on the tannoy system to announce the station. What you would think was an easy process turned into absolute farce worthy of a Carry On Engine Driver film.
