Airport fiasco would not happen at Shannon
The terminal needs to be paid for but it seems ever more likely that our Government, through its minister and Department of Transport, wants to double-cross the airport, the city and the entire southwest region. This despite an earlier commitment by former transport minister Seamus Brennan that Cork Airport would begin independent operations debt-free.
Wake up, Cork people, and say no to this shabby treatment from the Government and the smug Dublin Airport Authority, with it’s many lucrative business interests in airports, airport shops and hotels around the world.
What Cork is going through would never happen at Shannon Airport, which has a refurbished terminal, long runways, airbridges and plenty of aircraft parking space, not to mention the years of Government-backed protection via flight stopovers to the US and Canada. Shannon will never be hung out to dry - the Clare and midwest TDs would be out on their ears at the next general election.
