Riot headline made a false connection

YOUR headline ‘Israeli police storm Temple Mount as Sharon threatens Arafat’ (Irish Examiner, April 3) was misleading and there is no connection between the two points mentioned.

The writer, Mark Lavie, is based in Jerusalem, but what he reported on Temple Mount is at variance with the facts.

What transpired was that, after Friday prayers by Muslims on the Temple Mount, worshippers came out of a mosque and, seeing Israeli police, began throwing rocks and stones at them.
