JOHN McSWEENEY (Irish Examiner letters, June 10) is incorrect in suggesting that the Catholic Church has “changed its own moral viewpoint considerably during its history”.

The letter also stated that conservative Catholics should re-examine their opinions regarding “the morality of abortion, divorce, contraception, homosexuality, etc”.

The Church has never changed its position on moral issues, especially those Mr McSweeney mentions.
