A better plan: beg the twins’ forgiveness

WITH Ireland’s blandest of the bland entry for the Eurovision Song Contest, is it not imperative that RTE and the panel of ‘expert’ judges now do the right thing?

In RTE’s case, this would entail the immediate announcement of a substantial reduction in licence fee for all those who can prove that they did not vote in the national contest and a compensating significant licence fee increase for all those who did.

In the case of the judges, it would require a parade in sackcloth through the streets of Glanmire, casting themselves in abject contrition at the feet of the McElhinney twins, begging forgiveness for their imbecilic and odious remarks and pleading with Caoimhe and Shauna to represent Ireland.
