Cigarette price increase plays into the hands of illegal traders

I SEE that Dr Fenton Howell of ASH Ireland has trotted out his well-worn annual message (Irish Examiner letters, Dec 2) claiming that thousands of lives would be saved if only we would increase the price of tobacco.

Dr Howell, I hate to tell you this, but none of us is immortal.

The sad truth is that we will die whether we smoke or not.
