Missed: a real photo opportunity

IN your New Year’s Day edition there was a photograph which purported to show Liam Cosgrave’s Fine Gael/Labour government receiving their seals of office from President de Valera in 1973.

Missed: a real photo opportunity

The first thing that caught my eye was the presence of Gerry Collins a hardened Fíanna Fáil stalwart! My first reaction was to attribute this to Mr Collins' legendary ability to get himself into a photograph at the right moment.

This was a little far-fetched, of course, and I soon realised that it was in fact a picture of a Fianna Fáil cabinet being installed (an event seen far too often) which had, to my amazement, been placed above an article on the Cosgrave government.
