Children at risk in a society that needs to pray

WE hear a great deal nowadays about families breaking up, law and order breaking down and the escalation of the abuse of drugs and alcohol.

Children at risk in a society that needs to pray

May I make one or two suggestions?

We need to pray for people in Government and in the media that they might come to realise that life is very short, but eternity is not, and that they, like the rest of us, will have to be accountable ultimately for their actions.

Can children be expected to discern the influences that they are bombarded with on an hourly basis through TV, magazines and advertising?

The not-so-subtle message from Government now is that it is necessary further to undermine the most vulnerable in our society so that big business and those who already have enough might have a bit more? Do parents think how such influences will shape the adults that their children will become?

We need to pray for couples that they may live in a relationship of love with God and with each other. It might help, too, if children were taught that love is proved by sacrifice rather than by hedonism and morally irresponsible choices.
