Roots of discontent

‘FF grassroots wither and die, says the headline over Pat Brosnan’s column (Irish Examiner, May 13).

I know one such ‘root.’ I pity those who have to call to the doors next time round. I know other ‘roots’ who feel as badly let down.

Mind you, when the special savings schemes mature next year, in time for the election, all such ill feeling will dissipate and it will be happy families once more.

That is how the system works: governments that rob Peter to pay Paul can generally count on the support of Paul... and life goes on.
