FF have hijacked the symbols of nationhood

REGARDING the resumed 1916 military commemoration announced by Bertie Ahern to his own party faithful at their recent árd fheis:

I wonder if it will be possible in the circumstances for the opposition party leaders (excluding SF of course) to attend this event.

Surely this should have been announced in the Dáil, or following all-party agreement.

Fianna Fáil have hijacked our defence forces (FF) and also our national anthem. When I was growing up in the late ‘50s the translation of ‘soldiers are we’ was ‘sinne laochra fáil.’

When, and how, it was so altered I do not know, but I have my suspicions. I would have thought that the translation of ‘soldiers’ was ‘saighdiúri.’

When will we wake up the to the nefarious motives of this party?
