On its shores, and in an expression of the best in human culture, that city’s inhabitants have built their amazing opera house.

Cork has the second largest natural harbour in the world, on the shores of which an Bord Pleanála, acting against the judgement of Cork county council and its planners, has approved the building of two incinerators for municipal and toxic waste.

Now the residents of Europe’s capital of culture 2005 may truly ask - “where’s me culture?”
