THE equality officer for the Labour Party is correct when she states it is not surprising that the Government ignored the choice of the people when it comes to the abortion referendum (Irish Examiner letters, March 11).

But she is completely wrong to try to slant things as if the people wanted legislation that would permit abortion.

As the Labour commentator well knows there were a lot more pro-life people on the 'No' side of the abortion referendum than Labour supporters.
