We recycle our refuse – and this is our thanks

MY family and I gladly embraced the idea of recycling.

We have four bins in our garage one each for glass, paper, metal and plastic bottles (no other form of plastic recycling available in Cork, alas).

I visit the civic recycling centre on Kinsale Road monthly with plastic and tin cans, etc. We use only rechargeable batteries and compost when it is possible at home.

We have reduced our rubbish for weekly collection by half and now our reward for this is to be told we will be paying upwards of €600 in service charges the exact same as all non-recycling households in Cork city.

How encouraging!
