LAST December I groaned when I heard that, after months of consultation, the best soundbite the Cork 2005 committee could think of was City of Making.

I wrote offering an alternative which took account of Cork’s maritime history as well as the momentum it might enjoy as it cruised into the 21st century.

Well, better late than never. The Where’s Me Culture? group might like to take up one or other of my suggestions: City Astride of a Wave or City Riding a Wave.
