ON Saturday night last I noted with interest Justice Minister Michael McDowell’s acclamation of the democratic process in the wake of the referendum result.

Can we now expect a similar acknowledgement from that champion of democracy in the wake of the historic electoral swing to Sinn Féin, given that the all-Ireland party received more than twice the vote gained by the PDs?
