Top of poverty league

AS we welcome 10 more countries into the EU it is noteworthy that, as of May 1, Ireland no longer has the highest rate of poverty of 15 member states.

According to the European Commission we now have the highest rate of poverty of 25 member states.

(Based on the number of persons with a disposable income at below 60% of the national median disposable income: Report from the Commission to the Spring European Council, January 21, 2004).
