Tracing the fees

MONSIGNOR Denis O’Callaghan (“Diocese sets the parish record straight,” Irish Examiner letters, April 5) hit the nail on the head when he pointed out how the interests of Cloyne Diocesan Heritage Centre were being compromised.

The centre charges a €75 search fee, then a fee for the results.

Getting the information for nothing at the National Library certainly compromises their interests.

To get the National Library to help, you need a letter of approval from the bishop. I have a research form from the heritage centre quoting all fees. Of course one can confirm this by phoning/emailing the centre using the number and email address that Msgr O’Callaghan kindly gave in his letter.
