True secularism makes its mark

I APPLAUD the OPW for removing the sectarian symbol from a State office i.e. the sacred heart picture from the Cóbh garda station public office.

It has taken decades of struggle to remove Catholic oppression from Ireland and separate Catholicism from the State. Actions like this are a logical step in the direction of a true secular state. Why should Catholic iconography be shoved down others’ throats? The PSNI no longer have pictures of the Queen of England hanging in their public offices so it’s a similar case here with these Catholic pictures.
