Doing time in Leinster House

THERE is no doubt that crime and corruption are rampant in this country. What can one say when two brothers, after a meal in Clonmel recently, were brutally attacked and beaten up.

This kind of savagery also happened in Kilkenny. We need more gardai on our streets talk shops are not good enough. We all know areas around our towns and cities where it is not safe to venture out day or night, and we know that when criminals are caught, tried and sentenced, they are likely to be back on the streets in weeks.

I suggest that they put them into a big, rarely used building where, I believe, hundreds of them would have enough space fully to serve their sentences. This building has high railings; it is fully secured, with Garda and Army protection.

It would house at least 1,000 prisoners in some comfort.

You guessed it Leinster House!

No, I am not suggesting that all of our TDs move out when the prisoners move in because I am sure that some of them would feel quite at home with gougers, bowsers and gangsters of every possible description!
