Munster now more like the home counties

WHEN my work first took me on trips through the south and south-west, I sometimes felt I was in Hamburg.

Recently I have begun to feel that I am travelling through the home counties - the British ones, that is. Increasingly, it is hard to tell the difference.

The droves of modern English settlers should feel very much at home in an Ireland that is becoming more and more anglicised. Independence indeed!
