Stop the lights and go back to the Victorians

DOES anyone else subscribe to the belief that the new lights being erected on Patrick Street in Cork are an absolute abomination and totally out of character with the architectural heritage of the city?

Their pseudo-futuristic, twisted stainless steel structure, crowned with glaring floodlights, would be better in Turners Cross or Pairc Uí Chaoímh.

Victorian-style lamps would be more appropriate in the elegant old city.
