Churches can tackle famine

IF we had known what was to happen in the USA on September 11 last, and if we had then failed to do everything in our power to avert the disaster, it would have been criminal and sinful.

Churches can tackle famine

We know about Southern Africa. Well-publicised reports over many months indicate that between ten and 20 million people in Southern Africa face imminent famine and starvation. Many aid agencies, religious and non-religious, are doing all in their power but the resources made available to them are woefully inadequate.

Our various Christian churches, if they act together, have the personnel, resources and organisation to make a difference.

Our church leaders need to act locally, globally and urgently. They can:

Contact other leaders of all the Christian churches in Ireland to arrange combined action immediately.

Individually we can do little. We must come together as Christian churches to act now.
