DESPITE our recent prosperity, we still hear the refrain that the rich get richer and the poor, poorer. Easy to say but a great deal harder to determine exactly how true it is.

Maybe it is time to analyse the reasons for such a situation. Surely all have benefited to some extent from the Celtic Tiger. But the key question is to what extent has every section gained. Of course some have gained handsomely, while others have not.

If wealth has not percolated down equally to all sections of the community, why not?
