Bertie’s roundis an EU brew
Is it entirely possible, given Tánaiste Mary Harney‘s notorious Boston versus Berlin speech last year, that the Taoiseach‘s heart is really closer to Brussels than Boston?
Bass is, after all, one of the leading brands owned by the Brussels-based Belgian brewery Interbrew. All of this of course means that Bertie‘s lips will never be parched during his frequent trips to Europe‘s political and economic headquarters.
Is Bertie‘s preference for the Belgian brew an omen in the weeks running up to Nice Referendum Take Two?
Could Bertie really be the born-again Europhile he claims to be? Or is it a bridge too far to judge a nation‘s leader by the ownership origins of his favourite tipple?.
