LIVING in a rural area with only RTÉ television, the news of a licence fee increase could not have come at a worse time.

Having endured the usual Christmas/New Year selection of tired and dated (pre-recorded) programmes, I wonder what hold certain ‘top’ TV personalities have on the station.

With obscene salaries to be paid to a chosen few, small wonder that the station’s director general expressed delight at the news.
