Crèche headline failed to reflect judgment

YOUR headline on March 24 - “This crèche owner left a 3-year- old boy behind in a park. The fine? Just €1,200” - was very dramatic and ignored the fact that the judge dismissed the charge that the child had been left unattended.

Moreover, the fine related to two other charges, namely, failing to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of the child and inadequate supervision of children while outside the crèche on this occasion.

Your coverage of the affair, in particular your headline, did not report the judgment in a balanced manner. I have an interest in the case, being the mother of two small children who continue to attend the crèche.
