Swim together

EXCELLENCE in swimming is based on effective training — swimmers completing tasks to the best of their ability on a daily basis in a proper environment. A fun pool is not a suitable environment.

The leaders of Cork city and county must change their thinking not only for the dreams of glory of our swimmers but for the daily enjoyment, sense of community and health benefits that swimming brings to all ages.

Please keep a suitable swimming pool where access is available to all.

I suggest that a meeting be called of all interested parties school principals, voluntary workers, parents/guardians, swimmers, teachers, club representatives, including aqua aerobics, lifesaving, waterpolo, scuba diving, etc. Surely this would be a step in the right direction.
