Politicians should be at home St Patrick’s Day
Every year, many of our mayors, Government ministers, TDs, etc, are not in Ireland to review the St Patrick’s Day parades. They are with strangers and not with their own people who elect them.
Instead of using the money for junkets and freebies, could that money not be better used for collection and disposal of household waste and rubbish? Could that money not be better used keeping men employed by corporations and councils rather than making them redundant?
While our elected leaders are in foreign parts, you wouldn’t see other foreign politicians coming to Ireland on their national holiday. Only in Ireland do politicians get away with being absent on our own saint’s day.
But the good news is we can get our own back on the politicians next June in the local elections.
