Columnist should not fear young talent

IN her Last Word column (Irish Examiner, April 6), Colette Sheridan gave her cynical account of journalism as seen on the TV programme No Experience Required.

Columnist should not fear young talent

Ms Sheridan was quick to condemn the lucky winner of the programme on the night.

If she took time to stop and read the title of the programme it would have dawned on her that candidates were meant to lack experience.

Instead, Ms Sheridan wrote a bitter account of her profession, which she wants to place on a pedestal.

Move over, Ms Sheridan. Give the young, talented people of Ireland a break. I hope the Real World of Journalism is not full of shoulder-chipped journalists who are fearful of fresh blood.

Finally, I hope the Irish Examiner is not resorting to text message English on a regular basis. Forget the 'luvs' Ms Sheridan. Dare I call it her attempt at New Age Mumbo Jumbo?
