Benchmarking bill

THE cost of benchmarking payments by local authorities will be immense. For Cork County Council alone it will total €12m.

This will seriously disrupt council services.

Cork County Council maintains that benchmarking should be paid by the exchequer, as applies to other public servants.

The council has made a written protest to the Government and via its delegates on the General Council of County Councils and the Local Authority Members Association. I await the Government’s response with interest.
