Bring in the army to help combat crime

IN our country today, both young and old are attacked and robbed, some murdered, and many homes burgled.

Bring in the army to help combat crime

The community policing scheme hasn’t worked and the criminals are having a field day since its introduction. Old people are living in constant fear and while politicians and sociologists will argue over the cause of crime and violence, the urgent concern should be how to curb it and how to protect our vulnerable elderly people. People in all areas are living in fear, due mainly to the alarming rise in burglary, murder and assault.

The public are calling out for the protection to which they are entitled. The gardaí are doing a good job, but back-up from the army could prevent a good deal of crime. The army could be deployed in protecting State buildings, parliamentarians and patrolling our towns, cities and countryside, thus allowing more gardaí to be available for the more technical acts of criminality.
