Earlier budget would save a fortune on paper
This amounts to about three million sheets of A4 size paper. How many trees were felled to supply this paper?
How much transport is required to supply and deliver all this paper - not to mention the boxes it is packed in and the envelopes used to post it.
How many are employed in the Revenue doing useless work because what is being issued is already out of date. This is a disgraceful waste of taxpayers’ money and does not help us to comply with the Kyoto agreement. Then there is the cost to private enterprise.
The figures for these out-of-date certs have to be processed. Employees are paid according to these and then, a month later, the new, correct certs are received and all this work has to be done again. The cost in man hours is enormous.
The solution would be to bring the budget forward to, say, September and avoid all this expense and waste.
