Pre-school an investment for life

A LANDMARK study of the effects of high quality early childhood education by the High/Scope Perry Pre-school study identified a group of low income African-American children assessed to be at risk of failure in school.

Pre-school an investment for life

The children were randomly assigned into a control group that did not attend pre-school and a treatment group that received high quality pre-schooling at ages three and four.

These two groups were then observed at the age of 40. The study found that 60% of the children receiving the high quality pre-school care and education earned $20,000 or more by age 40 compared to just 40% of the control group.
