THE historic decision to permit soccer internationals in Croke Park next year is most welcome.

Soccer is possibly the world’s greatest game and it deserves such a magnificent stage. Let’s just hope that when the games do take place, they embody the unique spirit among rival GAA fans.

Should we expect rival soccer fans to sit beside each other like civilised people? Might losers congratulate the victors in defeat?
